The New Zealand Way of Death Video

Nothing is more certain than death, but the way people deal with death and dying has changed over time. In New Zealand we tend do things differently; Maori have taught Europeans valuable ways to prepare for death and mourning.

Borrowing from each other’s cultural traditions we have made funerals more of a community and family event.

Maori Television documentary ‘The New Zealand Way of Death‘ follows Elva Dyason’s journey preparing for her own funeral, giving an insight to how we kiwis approach death and explaining the tangi process of grieving and burying our loved one.
