The Woodstock embodies authenticity and simplicity. It is made from untreated New Zealand plantation grown Radiate Pine. The idea behind this model is to offer a greener choice in the lower price bracket. It is a rustic solid timber casket in a similar price bracket to commonly used MDF / plastic coffins. The finish is not rough-sawn; the timber is dressed and it is assembled in a simple manner with pins, glue and a few screws. A rail handle is integrated into the design enabling more people to help carry it - this could be an opportunity to enable children to participate in the ceremony. The lid is secured with wooden dowels. The mattress is recycled wool padding with a calico cover.
'Dad worked at Burrell Demolition for 30 years and wouldn't have been comfortable with anything glossy or frilly. The authenticity of the solid wood was a perfect fit - to top it off we got everyone to write messages in builders pencil on the inside of the lid'.
