We have been asked many times for something conventional. The RD1 is a conventional shape and can be supplied with or without wooden handles and wool fleece mattress. We hope that no-one applies plastic handles to this casket but have decided to respect the will of the families and give some flexibility to the funeral directors. The RD1 is made from untreated plantation grown Radiata Pine - an iconic New Zealand material. For an open casket, the lid can be attached to the side so it looks like it is hinged open. When closed it is locked with wooden dowels which are supplied. The casket is built by furniture craftsmen and is supplied sanded without oils or waxes.
